The Journey Within: A Meditation Practice Day 10

The Journey Within: A Meditation Practice Day 10

body of water

Imagine a serene sandy lake shore where the tides gently roll in… the sand squishy beneath your shoes and feet… the cool breeze tickling your nose… and the rays of the sun splashing upon you with radiance and warmth!

This, my friends, is what I experienced today at the nearby lake side.

It was a perfect atmosphere, walking Stella along the shore. I still find it humorous that although she’s part Labrador, she could care less about getting in the water and is more interested in sniffing the shore. I myself honor the magnificence of both the water and Earth. Together we find a great compromise.

Taking in the beautiful moment at the lake, I chose a spot, made my way to a comfortable seat (Stella resting next to me), and closed my eyes. Feeling the energy of balance with each of the Earth elements. The Earth beneath me, the breeze playing with my hair, the ebb and flow of the water and the creative spark of fire within the heart.

All was well…

Feeling a bit tense from yesterday’s activities, I practiced a breathing technique to harmonize my mind with my heart space – creating brain and heart coherence. Gently inhaling for five seconds and then exhaling slowly for eight seconds. The key in this technique is allowing your exhale to be a bit longer than your inhale.

This helps induce relaxation as well as communicating to the neurons in your brain the feeling of safety. Where your mind receives the feeling and message, “I am safe” – allowing for the flow of inner guidance to be received.

And let me tell you..this works like a charm!

As I focused on the sound of the tide, I felt myself drift into peaceful receptivity. I felt balanced, connected, and warm. In my mind’s eye, I got the image of a round plastic cap that covered a lock. It felt only natural to sweep the cap to the side. As I did so, I was able to see more clearly that it was an ignition that connected to a motor – a power source.

With my intention, I used a key to ignite and start the engine. I felt the powerfully vibrant energy flow through my body! Everything felt right and so natural!

I knew in my heart that it was clearly a metaphor for my acceptance of my next steps to take in moving forward! How amazing!

Savoring the feeling, I was brought out of meditation by the sound of Stella’s tags moments later as she shook off any little gnats flying by. The sassy questioning look on her face, clearly reflected as “are you done yet?” absolutely made me chuckle!

Carrying the revitalized inner peace with me, we began our stroll back towards the car. Mixing it up by skipping along the shore every so often – just for fun because why not!

In gratitude and so much love, dear friends, I bid you adieu.

Until next time, peace be with you.
